  BMW Motorrad Power Cup 2005

BMW Motorrad bursts into a new era with the all new K 1200 R leading the way in the BMW Motorrad Power Cup 2005 race series that will cover seven of the best European race circuits. Wheel to wheel racing will see world class riders battle on track with their new four cylinder, 175 hp BMW K 1200 R machines alongside the fastest motorcycle series in the world, MotoGP. Speeds of around 270 kph are expected on the quick circuits as the K 1200 R takes BMW into a brand new market with its 'out of the box' thinking, 'naked' look, greater power and revolutionary suspension. After BMW's international success on racetracks and off road stages around the globe, this is to be another historical series to look forward to.

With the first race held on the Bugatti Circuit at Le Mans, Mugello, Assen, Donington, Sachsenring and Brno then follow through to the finale of the season at Valencia.

Competing riders will be set to resume their side by side battles. The last three champions from the BMW BoxerCup series reunite in 2005 to find out who really is the king of champions. Reigning title holder from the BoxerCup 2004 Thomas Hinterreiter (A) returns after his domination in last year's series, champion from 2003, Andy Hofmann (CH), makes a welcome re-appearance, and the Former World Endurance Champion and BoxerCup title winner from 2002 and 2001, Stephane Mertens (B) all have their heads down and their throttles open. Race winners over recent years are sure to be in the mix too with Nordschleife specialist Markus Barth (D), super-quick Belgian Sebastien Legrelle, the flying Roberto Panichi (I) and youngster Gwen Giabbani (F). 1992 125cc Grand Prix World Champion Alessandro Gramigni makes his debut in the BMW Motorrad Power Cup this season, the Italian adding to his massive racing experience that has covered all three GP classes and the World Superbike series too. Teams from Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, Poland and the Czech Republic comprise the field.

VIP Guest riders will once more be on track in the thick of the BMW races. In the past names such as Luca Cadalora, Jorge Martinez, Angel Nieto, Kevin Schwantz and Jurgen Fuchs have ridden, together with top level journalists from the USA to Eastern Europe.
